Dermal Fillers & Collagen Stimulators in Austin and Central Texas
There are a variety of excellent dermal fillers and collagen stimulators that can reduce wrinkles, restore soft-tissue volume loss, smooth depressed scars, and enhance lips. They can also be used to replace lost volume for the back of the hands. Dermal fillers can help make you look younger and refreshed, are minimally invasive and require little downtime.
Dr. Zimmet has been using dermal fillers for many years in Austin and the Central Texas region. He offers a variety of fillers and collagen stimulators to help restore youthful volume and reverse the effects of aging. Dr. Zimmet and his team are conservative. They will evaluate each person individually, and seek to create natural, attractive results, using as little filler as possible. A variety of skin changes occur as we age. You may see brown spots, broken capillaries, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. One less obvious change is that we lose facial volume, causing the face to become sunken and to sag. The loss of mid-face volume in particular plays a key role in facial aging. Fillers and collagen stimulators play a unique role in restoring lost volume. Common areas of treatment include the cheeks, temples, wrinkles and folds around the mouth, such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, as well as lip lines and lips. Fillers can also be used under the eyes, scars, jawline, and hands. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of human skin and is the framework in which skin cells live. HA fillers are very commonly used because of their combination of safety, smooth and natural appearance and good duration. These fillers tend to provide natural looking results with a very low risk of allergic reaction. Also, HA fillers can be dissolved with injections hyaluronidase, a readily available FDA-approved medication. Belotero Balance® integrates into the skin very well, and is specifically designed for use in superficial fine lines and wrinkles. It is commonly used to treat lines around the mouth, and is a good choice for the tear trough. Juvederm Ultra® and UltraPlus® are most commonly used to treat moderate lines and folds around the nose and mouth. They can also be used to treat the temples and to enhance the lips. These may last up to a year. Juvederm Voluma® is more volumizing and lifting than most other HA fillers. It is most often used to restore volume in the cheeks, and may last up to 2 years. Restylane® is often used for moderate lines and folds around the mouth, nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, marionette lines, frown lines, tear trough, temples and to enhance the lips. Results may last 6-18 months, depending on the area treated and the person. Non-HA Fillers: Radiesse® contains calcium hydroxylapatite microshperes in a gel. It is a volumizing filler that also stimulates collagen production. It is commonly used to restore volume to the cheeks, temples and nasolabial folds. It is an excellent filler for restoring volume to the back of the hands. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a collagen stimulator, and therefore works by stimulating you to make your own collagen. It is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which is the material that absorbable suture is made from. Results with Sculptra gradually develop over a series of 2-3 treatments, which some people prefer. Although not a quick fix, if can restore lost volume and a youthful fullness to the cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and prejowl sulcus. Results can last for more than two years, and can be maintained with periodic single treatment sessions. Dr. Zimmet carefully evaluates the available fillers for safety, effectiveness and appropriate use. He will discuss the fillers that would be appropriate to consider based on the area(s) you will be having treated.
