Eating Lots of Fruits and Vegetables = Attractive Glow
According to a new study, a much healthier and attractive glow can be achieved by eating lots of fruits and vegetables, instead of sun tanning. Two primary ways in which skin coloration can be achieved is by melanization or tanning, and ingestion of carotenoids – organic pigments found in carrots, apricots, oranges, mangoes and spinach. Researchers wanted to understand whether carotenoid coloration or melanin coloration is preferred by people while judging facial attractiveness. In several experiments, participants rated the high-carotenoid version of each face as more attractive and also the high-melanin faces as more attractive. The study, however, does not describe the amount of portions of fruits and vegetables that can have an effect on skin tone. Sun tanning is anyways associated with adverse effects; therefore, healthy consumption of fruits and vegetables seems to be the best choice to achieve glowing skin.
