Pulsed Light Rejuvenation with Advanced Fotofacial Treatments for Smoother, Healthier Skin
Pulsed light rejuvenation treatments can be used on any part of the skin and are especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This treatment benefits those that suffer from a variety of skin conditions: rosacea, uneven skin tone, hyper-pigmentation, persistent redness and flushing, enlarged pores, rough skin texture and sun damage.
After treatment, redness, facial veins, discolorations and texture typically improve. You may appear rosy for about 30 minutes after treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately. Pulsed light rejuvenation rarely causes any skin discoloration or bruising, unlike older technologies. For most patients, a series of five treatments are performed at about four-week intervals.
When performing pulsed light rejuvenation with advanced Fotofacial, Dr. Zimmet uses a pulsed light and one-two additional laser wavelengths with a laser called VariLite. Using the two devices in conjunction provides better results than using either one alone. The VariLite laser emits a tiny beam of light that targets two conditions, pigmentation such as freckles and other pigmented lesions as well as vascular lesions, such as broken capillaries and angiomas. These conditions are commonly seen with sun-damage, aging and rosacea.
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing, dilated capillaries and pigment splotchiness. People with visible aging from the sun can expect to see their skin become smoother with some refinement of pores. Many people with rosacea see an improvement in breakouts.
Most patients notice improvement even after the first treatment. These improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. For most patients, a series of five treatments is appropriate. Some patients will benefit from additional treatments.
The best candidates include:
- People who suffer from rosacea and experience flushing and redness of their skin.
- People with splotchy pigmentation and sun damage who desire healthier, more youthful skin.
- People who do not want to take time off to heal from laser resurfacing or chemical peels.
- Active people who want to improve their skin but do not want to interfere with social or outdoor activities.
