ULTRASOUND-GUIDED SCLEROTHERAPY
With this technique, sclerotherapy is done while the doctor visually monitors the vein on an ultrasound screen. This enables treatment of veins that can't
be seen because they are below the surface of the
skin. It is an alternative to surgical stripping.
Treatment takes about 15 minutes and is done under
local anesthesia. We ask you to walk or use our
treadmill for 20 minutes right after treatment You
should walk at least 1 hour per day for a week.
We will also provide you with a compression stocking,
to be worn for 1 week. You should avoid hot baths
for a week, but a shower if fine the day after treatment.
Avoid heavy lifting or straining for a week. Normal
daily activities are fine.
