SCLEROTHERAPY
Sclerotherapy is the injection of a medication into a vein in order to bring
about its disappearance. It works by irritating the lining of the vein such
that the vein seals shut. It takes about 15-20 minutes and can be used to treat "spider" veins
and large varicose veins. Most people need a few treatments to obtain the best
results. Patients wear a compression stocking for a few days. We ask that you
walk, bike, treadmill (or similar activity) about 1 hour daily for a few days.
Treatments are generally done at about monthly intervals.
