NLITE LASER
THE NLITE LASER IS USED TO TREAT:
- acne (may eliminate the need for oral antiobiotics)
- acne scars
- "broken" capillaries, facial veins and other vascular lesions
- stretch marks
- wrinkles
The NLite Laser is used to stimulate your own collagen production. It also destroys the acne-causing bacteria in the skin and may eliminate the need for oral antibiotics for acne. When used in its Vascular Mode, it reduces facial blood vessels and vascular birthmarks.
Recently, Photodynamic Therapy has been used to enhance the results of the NLite laser.
WHAT CAUSES WRINKLES?
Wrinkles can be the result of any one or a combination of factors including loss
of collagen, sun damage, smoking, alcohol consumption and hormonal changes.
Collagen can decrease at a rate of 1% per year after the age of 40. Sun exposure
accelerates the aging process
and loss of collagen by damaging the collagen fibers so they no longer support
the upper layers of the skin, resulting in the formation of wrinkles.
PRIOR TO THE NLITE PROCEDURE
Cosmetics or facial lotions should be removed at least
1 hour prior to the procedure using a non-alcohol cleanser. The area to be treated should
be clear of irritation, sunburn and tan. You should avoid taking aspirin and
other anti-inflammatory medications for 1 week before treatment. Stop applying products, such as RetinA, Renova, glycolic acids,
that might irritate your skin, a few days before the treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT
The NLite Laser treatment for wrinkle reduction is non-invasive and does not require general or local anesthesia. It is a non-ablative laser and does not wound the surface of the skin, eliminating the need for post treatment care. The light from the NLite laser targets the tissue under the skin surface stimulating new collagen growth. The new collagen growth fills in the depression under the wrinkle, reducing the crease in the wrinkle surface. Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes, or up to 30 minutes depending upon the area and number of wrinkles to be treated. There is no pain associated with this treatment. Some patients may feel a slight warming sensation.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
For most patients, there is no visible
change in the skin even a few minutes after treatment.
For these patients, it is truly a no downtime
procedure. A small percentage of patients may
experience temporary bruising.
Makeup or moisturizer may be applied
immediately after treatment and patients are
able to return to their normal activities.
Patients may participate in outside
activities without fear of sensitivity to sunlight.
The full response from a single treatment builds
collagen gradually, to a maximum benefit in
appearance
at 3-6 months. Your physician may also recommend
a skin care regimen to enhance the laser treatment.
