Exfoliate Your Skin With a Microdermabrasion
Is your foundation exaggerating the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines? Does your skin look coarser than it used to? As you age, your skin builds up layers of dead cells, leading to uneven skin texture and a dull complexion. Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation treatment that removes the top cell layer of skin to reveal softer, younger-looking skin.
Treatment is affordable and convenient, with no downtime and minimal recovery.
Tiny microscopic crystals are sprayed across the skin’s surface while suction is applied. This process gently removes the older, outer layer of skin. During microdermabrasion, most patients report minimal discomfort. Complications and treatment side effects are very rare.
One microdermabrasion treatment takes about 30 to 40 minutes. For optimal results, a series of at least 5 treatments is recommended. Each treatment is scheduled about seven to ten days apart.
- Minimized appearance of enlarged pores, mild acne scars, blackheads and fine lines
- Even skin tone and smooth skin texture
- Improved sun-damaged skin
Dr. Zimmet recommends microdermabrasion for any patient looking for radiant, softer and younger-looking skin. The treatment is suitable for healthy adults with relatively minor skin conditions or imperfections.
Prior to treatment, patients are encouraged to follow a good skin care routine and apply sunscreen daily.
Our skin care professionals will apply a special lotion to your face after treatment and recommend a suitable moisturizer for everyday use. You can apply make-up immediately after the procedure. However, expect the skin to appear flushed for up to 48 hours after treatment. It is important to continue to apply sunscreen daily as this fresh layer of skin is more fragile and prone to sunburn.
For two days following each treatment, we advise patients to avoid products with ingredients known to irritate skin (e.g., Retin-A, retinol or alpha hydroxyacid). To further reduce the chance of skin irritation, the use of facial brushes or sponges should also be avoided.
